Make Holiday Decorating Easy,
Yet Elegant, Too!

     This is such a wonderful time of year I hope you take some time and enjoys all the beauty this holiday season has to offer now that the bins, totes, and boxes are out of sight and your tree is upright. As all our fall colors come to an end the rich beauty of the deep reds, silver, majestic greens and gold's surround us.
     One of the easiest and cheapest ways to spruce up our homes is to use our never ending supply of pinecones. Our local playgrounds always have plenty. Get your little helpers out on a hike and see who can collect the most.
     These are great for filling baskets, glass containers, painting, glittering, and adding them to your garlands and trees. Scoop up a bunch and see just how something so small can make such a large impact with no money spent.
     Another beautiful addition during the holidays is the look of sugared fruit, such an easy and elegant statement. Any table looks stunning with a variety of sugared fruits on display. (See photo at left.)
      If you decide to dress up candlesticks, choose smaller variety fruits such as cherries or kumquats. Tape down some floral foam around the base of a candlestick, add your candle, and use toothpicks to attach some greenery, and your dazzling sugared fruit.
